Dr. Steve Politis, DPT
Dr. Steve Politis practices Physical Therapy in Santa Barbara, specializing in movement conditions related to pain, sports/fitness performance, and injury prevention. His approach is highly individualized, focusing on his clients’ priorities and their confident participation in living life fully. He enjoys working with a wide cross section of people with varying needs, goals and abilities.
He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BS in Biopsychology, and went on to complete his Doctoral in Physical Therapy at Arizona School of Health Sciences. He holds two post graduate Fellowships: Applied Functional Science (Gray Institute / GIFT), and Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (Ola Grimsby Institute).
His professional focus is on the biomechanics of the human body within the context of orthopedics, sports medicine. Utilizing differential diagnosis, a hands-on approach, therapeutic movement, and each client’s self-determined task priorities, “Dr. Steve” systematically integrates testing, treating, therapy, and training to fix causes and enhance performance, as well as, sooth symptoms. He believes that every-body is an athlete within the game of life and was born to achieve.
Steve is also a coach for the Santa Barbara Rugby community including the SB Rugby Academy, Grunions Rugby (senior men’s club), and Stingrays (youth rugby club) serving as Strength and Conditioning coach, injury prevention, consultation, rehabilitation, and forwards coach. He has been an avid rugby player for over 24 years, and is now giving back to the rugby community by sharing his professional knowledge, experience, and passion for the sport.
His professional career in Physical Therapy and Health & Wellness spans over 17 years as a massage therapist, strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, and physical therapist. He has also been a professional chef and enjoys nutrition, cooking, and eating well.
He and his wife Mollie, spend their free-time soaking up all the outdoor lifestyle adventures they can manage here in fabulous Santa Barbara.
I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Politis in Harbor Springs Michigan for five years and after several moves, voyages, and events, our paths crossed again and he asked me to become his office manager. I am thrilled to be a part of his clinic, vision, and share in the same enthusiasm of creating a healing atmosphere where we can bring patients into a core of learning, healing, and exceptional care. Whether it be the front door of the clinic, the marketing/programing, billing, events/classes, questions, or making this outstanding business run efficiently…I am here to help. I live in New Albany, OH with my husband, 16 year old twins, and our two dogs. We enjoy getting outside, camping, downhill skiing, cooking, and traveling, I am also the published author of a children’s book “A Pea with a Purpose” about an organic pea and his journey from farm to family while discovering his gifts and life’s purpose- it’s now in 27 countries and available on Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and on my website. Samantha Eddy is a PhD. student at Pacifica Graduate Institute studying Somatic Studies. Her research focus includes somatic yoga for trauma recovery in veterans. Samantha graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Stevenson University, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) in Raja Yoga. Accessibility of yoga is a driving force behind why Samantha has chosen a career in the field of yoga. Yoga can be adjusted and made accessible to everyone regardless of what brings them into their first yoga class. Along with school and working as Marketing/Social Media Director for Kineci, Samantha also teaches a yoga for veterans class in Santa Barbara as well as is earning a certification in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. In her spare time, Samantha spends as much time at the beach or hiking up in the beautiful Santa Barbara mountains with her dog, Hanalei!
