Somatic Yoga for Trauma

Who can sign-up? Any woman of any age who has experienced trauma and is looking to actively engage in the healing process. Women with all experiences of yoga are encouraged to apply.

When: Wednesdays (May 29 - July 3)

Cost: Sliding scale with a minimum donation of $150. Preferred donation is $200.

This class is for women to experience safety within their bodies, in a cohesive and intentional space. Trauma, no matter what kind, gets stuck within our bodies. Yoga, and in particular somatic yoga, gives the body space to process trauma and release it, moving the individual into resiliency.

This series will include two components: education & a full length yoga class.

The education portion will introduce topics such as:

  • What is Somatics?
  • How trauma, tension and stress get stuck in the body
  • Polyvagal Theory & Trauma
  • Trauma & Relationships
  • Intergenerational Trauma

The Yoga class will include:

  • Trauma-informed yoga
  • Somatic Awareness Exercises
  • Yoga nidra (active and guided meditation)
  • Mirroring (learning safely to be in movement with another being)

INSTRUCTORS

Sam
Samantha is a Registered Yoga Teacher 200-hour, also certified in Mindful Resilience for Trauma Recovery. Currently doing her PhD. in Somatic Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute, Samantha is passionate about blending somatic movement with yoga as a form of healing. A trauma survivor herself, Samantha is on a continual path of healing and has found yoga to provide the space to thrive resiliently.

Kristen
Kristen is a 200 hour yoga teacher, student of somatic awareness and embodied philosophy, foundation training instructor, 500 hour massage therapist, and manual muscle testing therapist. Kristen has also worked with hypnotherapy, shamanic apprenticeship, and has attended a raw vegan culinary school. Kristen is passionate about information to better the self, and is even more passionate about discovering what works in real world applications.
